At St Peters we are very fortunate to have our lunch time meals cooked freshly on site every day by our amazing Head Chef, Chloe.
Our menus run on a three-week rotation and have been specifically designed to ensure they are nutritionally balanced to support healthy eating whilst also allowing the children to taste a range of new flavours and dishes. New menu below.
Menus can be subject to change due to seasonality, product availability and unforeseen circumstances.
We also cater for children who have special dietary needs, medical food allergies, intolerances and religious preferences, we take great pride in ensuring that they also get a healthy and nutritionally balanced lunch.
In line with raising awareness of environmental issues we have introduced a ‘Meat free Monday’ and a new fish dish on a Friday, so we now only offer meat three days out of five. We strongly believe that consuming fewer animal products is of global importance but also has increased health benefits for children.
Representatives from our school council meet with our Head Chef on a regular basis to discuss the menus and feedback their thoughts on the dishes provided, this way we can engage with the children and work together to create a healthy menu that they want to eat.
The Children have three sittings for their lunch time service this is to help create a calm environment in the room and gives them time to enjoy their meal with their friends. Each table is set with cutlery, water, fresh bread in baskets and crudité. Hot food will now be served from hot counters which will allow for the food to always be warm and importantly for the chefs to be more involved with the children and their eating. We will still aim to create our St Peter’s family dining feel to our lunch time experience.
All pupils at St Peter’s have a hot school lunch every day and we are extremely proud of the service we provide. We were recently awarded a 5-star food hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency. Our aim is to educate, promote and support healthy eating with all the children.
Each half term our kitchen team will also bring you a newsletter which will keep you updated with all sorts of communication, we hope you find this informative, useful and fun. Feb Issue 1 first is below.
